FREEDOM RUNS

Thanks to this guy in Tempe yesterday for inspiring me to get back into shape for fall’s hot new trends. I gave up awhile ago on trimming and toning at the gym for summer bikinis and stayed covered, though I passed off the flowing swimming suit cover ups, maxi dresses and hats as “sun protection.” Not so. I was hiding my body flaws and imperfections from YOU and myself! I confess further, the sun protection was just an after thought. A second practice I need to improve on, and especially during fall and winter.

Anywho, I’m in my yoga pants now and running shoes. Changing my outfit to change my body is a good place to start. And today – child, energy, motivation and time permitting, I will actually get on the treadmill sitting directly to my left and use it.

SPEND TO GO. OR GO AND SPEND. OR BOTH.

So we’re coming to the end of another hot summer here in Arizona. The last few weeks have been particularly humid, hot and brutal. Time for those last minute jaunts to San Diego or any place cooler before school begins again or just to take a break from the unbearable heat of August (or Ugh-ust!)

A darling friend of mine mentioned an article outlining the pre-vacation shopping habits of us ladies.  According to stylist.com, women spend more on their vacation clothing than they do on the actual vacation. In fact, the average woman spends almost $300 more on the vacation wardrobe than the trip itself! And better yet (I am sooo guilty of this recently!) we bargain shop for deals on trips and vacation accomodations and spend the savings on our vacation outfits! Ha! To read the full article, click Spend to Go.

This concept is soo interesting -  a fashion version of the old “chicken-or-the-egg” dilemma. Personally, my initial intention before a special trip is to save money to spend while on shopping between meals, beach time and lazy naps. However, I am guilty of the “spend to go” mentality – buy fabulous new outfits and accessories to look great while relaxing and enjoying my time with family and friends. The stay away from the stress of home, affords me the time and energy to dress up, curl my hair and accessorize to be camera-ready for the day. However, pulling together the fabulosity abroad can get expensive!

I’m headed to California this weekend and already I’ve spend $75 on new underwear and a trendy top. FOR 24 HOURS IN SANTA MONICA!!  Then, of course, planning to spend $50 on a rental car, $75 on a Vespa tour, $139 for hotel and who knows how much at the newly opened Santa Monica Center (there’s a Ted Baker and Michael Kors so I know I’m in trouble!). I’m tempted to bypass the postcard and trinket souvenirs of the weeked, for this sterling silver Tiffany & Co. Vespa Charm ($175), if all goes well on the highway tour tomorrow.

Wow – the bill is adding up quickly! Luckily, the flight was free, but of course, that just lead me to spend more on pre-vacation fashions and fun. Oh well, c’est la vie…

What do you do? Do you spend to go. Or go to spend. Or both?? Regardless, have a great weekend and stay cool! xo

WILLIAM RAST FOR TARGET. THANK YOU FASHION GODS.

williamrast.com

William Rast, the label by Justin Timberlake, the only man I would ever leave my husband for, is coming to Target this winter.

Limited editions of William Rast denim, outerwear and sportswear for both women and men will be available in store and online from December 19th – January 22, 2011 as part of the fabulous Target Designer Collaborations Initiative. Past designers include Zac Posen and more.

I love William Rast denim. They are the sexiest jeans around. Leave it to GQ’s “Most Stylish Man in America 2009″ to know how to dress and style the ladies who love him. In fact, I just posted on Facebook yesterday, there should be a “love” button for Justin Timberlake! :)

Happy Thursday! xo
