Meet the lovely and fabulous Kim! She’s an Arizona girl, born and raised, and just as gorgeous and fashionable as she can be. Kim is celebrating her 18th birthday at the Mondrian Hotel this weekend, heading off to U of A on Monday and to celebrate her big day, I met with her and her equally fabulous mother, Roya, to chat about Kim’s “Valley” girl style and where she loves to shop.

Kim and her mom, Roya
1. Where’s your favorite place to shop? Scottsdale Fashion Square. But I also like the Gainey Shops, like Fleur’t.
2. What’s your favorite item in your closet right now? My True Religion cut-off jean shorts. On trend and cool for summer!

3. Who is your fashion inspiration? My mom! Aawwwwh! She’s my new fashion inspiration too!!
4. What specific store do you like to shop? I like Nordstrom because they have everything. Especially because they have the “Free People” line. Free People is one of my favorite labels because it’s cute, comfortable and perfect for summer.
5. Shoe-wise, what’s your favorite footwear? Sandals, especially now for summer.

The fashionable birthday girl!
Fashion Phoenix would like to wish Kim a very HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY!! xoxo

Reachel Bagley of Cardigan Empire
Last night I joined Reachel Bagley of Cardigan Empire at Blissful Living Studio / Domestic Bliss in Mesa for her workshop, “Body Type Prescription.” It was awesome!! Reachel is unbelievably knowledgeable and is such an easy, entertaining and inspiring teacher. You may think you know your body type and generally wear clothes that flatter, but Reachel takes your style to the next level with thoughtful, almost scientific, advice on how to dress your best. I highly recommend this class to anyone that is ready to embrace their body type and learn to make “clothes serve you!”
Some of my personal highlights from the workshop…
1. I am not “linear”- I am mostly “hourglass”. I have been under the impression I have the body of 12 year old boy – thin, shapeless, unfeminine . But the numbers (measurements) prove otherwise!! And Reachel gave me specifics on accentuating my femininity.
2. FIT is most important. More than fabric, prints, anything.
3. The length of your sleeves impact your bust, waist and hips. Interesting point that I have never thought about! You’ll have to take the class to find out more!
For more information on Reachel, her class schedule and her personal styling, check out her awesome blog www.cardiganempire.com.
