It’s that time again. Time to grab a glass of bubbly and pull up a first row chair at your computer to watch the Michael Kors Spring 2010 Runway show. It’s 13 minutes of pure fashion pleasure! My favorite looks float down the runway at 3:07 (my absolute favorite), 3:20, 4:10 and I go bananas for the shoes at 7:38. Click Michael Rocks My World to see the flawless show!

If you haven’t been to the Michael Kors store at Scottsdale Fashion Square lately, you must stop in soon to smell the new fragrance “Very Hollywood.” It’s a crisp, clean scent with a hint of grapefruit. Yummy! My favorite is the “Very Hollywood” Eau de Parfum Ring. A solid cream fragrance is hidden behind the fabulous pink gem. So chic! Just $40 – what a great gift.

Where beauty and brains meet, there’s Britnee. I met Britnee at the Arizona Bridal Show shoot wearing a Jennyvi Dizon Couture bridal gown. Not only did she look gorgeous in the gowns, but she was sweet and nice too! Fashion Phoenix is so proud to have her as our September “Model of the Month.”

Here’s a little bit about Britnee…
Q: Tell us about your favorite modeling jobs: My favorite jobs have been the ones where I’ve gotten to be really, really decked out. I chat a lot about the work I did a few summers ago in Tokyo because it was the most diverse type of modeling I’ve ever done – commercial jobs during the week and editorial shoots on the weekend. I loved the editorial concepts of Toyko- very futuristic. Recently I’ve been working with Jennyvi Dizon Couture and I loved the Marie Antoinette shoot we just did. Wigs, white faces with little red lips and dramatic expressions galore!
Q: When did you start modeling? I started modeling as a kid, then took a long break and picked up again a few years ago. I am currently represented by S.I.M.
Q: What do you do when you’re not modeling? I’m studying public relations and business at ASU. I love all things social and written, and public relations is a field that could potentially unite the two interests. In the future I’d love to go into the marketing world. I enjoy fashion, I really appreciate music and it sounds cliché, but I like visiting new places. If I can find a job that will relate any or all of those industries, I’ll be very happy.

Q: Tell us about your blog, “The Citified”: TheCitified.com is a blast! It all started when two of my friends and I were discussing the idea of how we were all from different places, have similar but different interests, and how if we wrote about those things we might have some interesting content worth blogging about. My posts tend to be music related. I talk about fashion and lifestyle on occasion, but since I’m an avid iTunes mix tape maker, it was easy for me to write about music and bands that interest me. I post the ‘britson’s mix tape’ pieces about once a month in addition to my miscellaneous postings. They’re always fun to write and I enjoy the responses we get from our readers. I once had a reader request that I blog about Michael Jackson after he passed away and so I did! It’s one of my favorite posts still!

The September 2007 Issue - Namesake for the movie from the Phx Art Museum's collection
The Phoenix Art Museum’s screening of “The September Issue” Sunday evening was phenomenal!! All the Phoenicians in the room looked amazing and some of my favorite international guests made an appearance – Prada, Chanel, Louboutin…:) You could really feel the excitement and love in the room. The love of Vogue – the magazine and the mystique. The film is phenomenal! It’s funny and entertaining and surprisingly heartbreaking at times. It provoked me to think about the art side of fashion again and that fashion is in fact a wearable form of art. When I got home I immediately opened the latest September issue of Vogue, the 2009, and re-read it cover to cover. I can’t believe how much beauty I missed the first time.

Grace Coddington, Creative Director at Vogue
Though I really just wanted to learn more about Anna Wintour, I was surprised to learn about and fall in love with Creative Director, Grace Coddington. Her role as Fashion Editor / Stylist at Vogue is just as critical as Anna’s and she is a true genius! I would love to own her book of editorial shoots someday (above). Next time you look through Vogue, notice Grace’s shoots. They are sooo beautiful!
If you missed the show, rent “The Devil Wears Prada” to hold you over until its release to DVD! And enjoy the pictures below!

The Devil, and the fabulous, wear Prada!

An Anna look-alike! Loved the wig!!

My date for the evening, fashion designer Angela Johnson

One of my favorite outfits of the evening!

Another fabulous outfit, feather skirt from TopShop!

Last night’s VMA Awards were a fabulous feast of fashion. I would give a “Moon Man” Award to many for looking so fabulous last night. And of course, there’s always a few who looked a little too “out of this world” for my taste. Here’s my picks from last nights show…
Best Dressed – Leighton Meester. The shoes just put this outfit over the top for me. It’s edgy and super cool.

Worst Dressed – I have two: Jennifer Lopez and Whitney Port. Both “fashion designers”… both fashion losers last night. At least, however, JLo has beautiful shoes on and has had a string of best dressed awards behind her. From hair to heels, Whitney’s just a hot mess.

Double Take – I would have maybe listed Shakira as another “Best Dressed” of the night, but because she was unfortunately wearing the same dress as Pink, I didn’t. Wearing the same dress is a horrible experience!! It happened to me last year at the Heidi Merrick fashion show in Scottsdale. I spent all night avoiding my “twin”!!! Uggh!! At least both singers looked fabulous is this gorgeous dress! But for me, Shakira wore it better with the trendy thigh-high boots that I am lusting for fall.

Worst Manners – The Fashion Phoenix award for the “Worst Manners” of all time is Kanye West. It’s really never fashionable to be a complete jerk. Sad, sad, sad…
